Malcolm Ball – Chief Executive
Malcolm Ball joined WMC in the summer of 2008, having enjoyed a career spanning more than three decades in the hospitality, retail and leisure sectors. He has developed a reputation for the successful transformation and profitable operation of events, retail and leisure spaces.
Malcolm was, immediately before joining WMC, chief executive of Wineworld PLC, the company behind London’s Vinopolis wine tasting attraction. He introduced a series of initiatives in his three years there which turned a £1m annual loss into a £2m profit. He was on the board of the Better Bankside Business Improvement District and played an active role in developing Borough Market.
Malcolm also developed the ground-breaking Barclaycard Profile Points scheme.
Andrew Sparrow – Executive Director
Andrew’s career started within broadcasting, having held a variety of roles at the BBC, subsequently followed by 10-years’ experience in the corporate social responsibility, retail and events industries. During this period Andrew worked across a range of projects, including the asset management and marketing of Old Spitalfields Market. Under Andrew’s leadership, the traditional market venue has been transformed into a dynamic visitor experience boasting cutting-edge retail, extensive dining and vibrant market trading. Andrew has extensive experience in developing funding and sponsorship proposals, along with retail marketing strategies.
Ken Riley – Finance Director
Ken joined WMC Retail in June 2016 having spent the last 16 years as Finance Director of two owner managed SMEs. A qualified CIMA accountant, Ken has done every job in finance starting as an office junior and working his way up to Finance Director by the age of 32. His career has encompassed textiles, a newspaper group, logistics, industrial manufacturing and TV support systems before venturing into another new challenge at WMC.
